This is the story of a juvenile male red bishop bird and the changes he experiences on becoming an adult. Its a story about growing up and changes in our looks, learning new skills, relying on friends and above all perseverance.
I believe we can learn a lot from the natural world and we shouldn’t forget our close ties with it. The red bishop is native to Southern Africa, the home of the author, but much of the story is universal to all weaver birds and hopefully children of the world will always see these determined little builders in a new way!
Children’s books in this age category are generally read by adults to children. Hopefully the book is also entertaining to the adult reader and primes your child or student with lots of questions about new words and ‘why?s’
The book should be suitable for children aged 4 – 6 years.
